I have Lewmar genoa sheet winches mounted on the cockpit coaming. I am considering replacing them with Andersen winches, but am unsure about access to the fastenings from underneath. How can I remove the bolts holding the winch bases in place? Is there a backing plate?
Thank You

Re: sheet winch base access
The winches are fastened by screwes drawn into thick solid wood reinforecements. Simply unscrew the existing ones with a screwdriver and mount the new ones accordingly.

Re: sheet winch base access
Hello..
I had the same question reference not having access to under the sheet winch base. So I guess with the rather low loads of an IF...there should be very little concern of the winch pulling out? I am also replacing the old 1969 issued winches with some Self Tailing winches...and I guess if the original winches didn't pull out after 40 years...it should be OK :)
